Campaign focuses on safe LPG use during increased Ramadan cooking

The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) has launched the second phase of its awareness campaign promoting the safe use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) systems across the Emirate. The initiative coincides with the start of Ramadan, a period marked by increased cooking activities in households, restaurants, and commercial kitchens.

The campaign, operating under the slogan “Your Safety is Our Priority,” highlights the importance of compliance with safety regulations to protect lives and property. The DoE aims to engage both government and private sector stakeholders to spread awareness and encourage best practices in handling LPG.

Awareness drive targets key LPG users

The campaign is directed at various groups that regularly use LPG, including domestic staff, labourers and employees in the hospitality sector. Employers responsible for training workers, as well as recruitment companies, are also part of the initiative.

Dr. Saif Saeed Al Qubaisi, Acting Director General of Regulatory Affairs at the DoE, stated: “We firmly believe that the safety of the community is paramount in all aspects of LPG handling. With this campaign, our goal is to ensure that all organizations and individuals adhere to safety protocols and implement the required standards and conditions.”

DoE highlights the role of education in gas safety

The campaign includes training programs and awareness workshops to reduce risks associated with LPG usage. Eng. Ahmed Alsayed Mohamed Alsheebani, Acting Regulatory Affairs Petroleum Product Sector Executive Director at the DoE, emphasised the importance of education: “We place considerable emphasis on delivering comprehensive awareness workshops and training programs for all the campaign’s target audiences, as we understand that ongoing education and training are key to mitigating risks associated with gas utilization.”

He further noted that the success of the initiative depends on a collective effort: “The success of this campaign relies not only on the awareness programs we provide, but also on the unified efforts of the whole community.”

Public urged to adopt safe gas practices

The campaign is being promoted through multiple channels, including social media and traditional media outlets. These messages encourage safe gas use at work and at home to reduce potential hazards.

Residents, businesses, and organisations in Abu Dhabi are being urged to take an active role in ensuring safe LPG practices by following regulations and providing appropriate training to those handling gas systems.
