Firefighters participate in hands-on training in Enschede
On 4 and 5 September 2024, TenCate Protective Fabrics held its third annual “Experience Days” firefighting event.
The event took place at the Twente Safety Campus and TenCate’s Nijverdal corporate office in the Netherlands.
Thirty elite firefighters from Germany participated in the hands-on training, which involved real-world firefighting simulations.
During the event, firefighters tested their skills in high-pressure situations, while wearing the latest firefighting protective gear, the Nomex® Advance® Truecolor® outer shell suit.
This new suit is designed for enhanced durability and colourfastness, offering firefighters better protection and increased confidence on the job.
Firefighter protective gear tested in realistic simulations
The event provided firefighters with an opportunity to wear the new Nomex® Advance® Truecolor® fire suit, which has been designed to offer industry-leading protection.
The outer shell of the suit focuses on durability and maintaining its colour, even in harsh conditions.
These simulations allowed participants to experience high-stress scenarios, providing them with valuable insights into the performance of the protective gear in demanding environments.
As reported by TenCate, the suits aim to ensure firefighters can operate more safely and confidently during firefighting operations.
Collaborative efforts enhance firefighting training
The “Experience Days” event was organised by TenCate Protective Fabrics with support from DuPont and Isotemp, who were also present to contribute to the training exercises.
This collaboration between key industry players ensured that the event offered practical, high-level training experiences.
Firefighters participating in the training had access to innovative technologies and solutions, making the exercises more reflective of real-world firefighting challenges.
The involvement of DuPont and Isotemp highlights the importance of industry partnerships in advancing firefighter safety.
Future of firefighter safety through technological advancements
The event showcased the importance of continuous innovation in firefighter protective gear.
The Nomex® Advance® Truecolor® outer shell is one example of how companies like TenCate Protective Fabrics are focusing on enhancing the safety and performance of protective clothing for firefighters.
As firefighting remains a high-risk occupation, it is crucial that protective gear keeps up with the evolving demands of the job.
Events like “Experience Days” allow manufacturers to receive direct feedback from firefighters and further improve the quality and durability of protective gear.
