New Level 2 Award training launched by ASFP

The Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) has announced the launch of a new Level 2 Award Classroom Training programme.

This training aligns with the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) Level 2 Certificate in Passive Fire Protection, providing industry professionals with the opportunity to deepen their understanding of fire safety and passive fire protection systems.

The training is divided into four two-day units, each led by an experienced ASFP expert.

These sessions are designed to offer foundational knowledge, insights into fire protection systems, and practical skills relevant to fire safety roles.

Delegates can select individual units or complete all four to prepare for IFE Level 2 Award examinations, which are required for certification.

Four-unit structure tailored to career needs

The programme is organised into four distinct units covering essential topics in passive fire protection:

  • Unit 1: Building structural frame and flame-retardant coatings
  • Unit 2: Walls, floors, ceilings, and glazing
  • Unit 3: Firestopping, barriers, ductwork, and dampers
  • Unit 4: Doors and shutters

Each unit includes two days of interactive lectures focusing on materials, design, and fire resistance strategies.

Participants will also learn how to apply these principles to prevent the spread of fire in various building structures.

Candidates who pass a 30-minute IFE examination for each unit receive a Level 2 Award.

Those completing all four units within five years will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Passive Fire Protection.

Flexible scheduling and pricing options

The ASFP offers flexible scheduling to accommodate participants’ availability, with courses running throughout the year.

Pricing is set at £440 for ASFP members, £630 for ASFP individual members, and £640 for non-members.

The programme aims to provide accessible training for professionals seeking to enhance their expertise in passive fire protection.

Participants can register for the training through the ASFP website.

Interactive learning from industry experts

The training sessions are delivered by industry-leading professionals with extensive experience in passive fire protection.

Each unit features hands-on lectures designed to engage participants and provide practical knowledge that can be directly applied in the workplace.

By offering this training, the ASFP supports professional development and promotes a deeper understanding of fire safety practices.

Successful completion of the programme equips delegates with the knowledge required to meet the standards of the IFE Level 2 Certificate.
