Britannia Fire opens new administration centre, welcomes local MP and launches fire safety training initiative

Britannia Fire has opened a new administration centre at its headquarters in Ashwellthorpe, Norfolk, while launching a new fire safety training initiative aimed at helping businesses improve workplace fire safety and prepare for upcoming regulatory changes.

The company welcomed Ben Goldsborough to officially mark the opening of the new 350m² administration facility, which has been designed to achieve a Grade A energy efficiency rating.

The expansion comes as Britannia Fire reports growing demand for its composite P50 fire extinguishers across the UK, Europe and the Middle East. The new building provides additional office space, meeting rooms and staff facilities to support the company’s 56 employees.

The announcement follows more than £1 million of investment last year to refurbish the company’s manufacturing facility. The project reconfigured the factory layout and introduced new machinery, increasing P50 extinguisher production capacity by 150% while reducing lead times. Britannia Fire also invested in solar energy generation as part of its sustainability strategy.

Alongside the facility expansion, Britannia Fire has introduced a fire safety training initiative designed to help organisations understand their legal responsibilities for fire protection. The programme will provide guidance on fire extinguisher selection, placement, inspection and maintenance, while also preparing businesses for the planned phase-out of PFAS-containing fire extinguishers.

The company said the initiative aims to provide practical advice to organisations navigating evolving fire safety requirements and environmental regulations.

Britannia Fire’s P50 composite extinguishers are designed with a 20-year lifespan and require professional servicing every 10 years, compared with traditional steel extinguishers that typically require annual servicing. The extinguishers are PFAS-free, recyclable and suitable for Class A, Class B and electrical fires.

The company’s recent product launches include the P50 AVD extinguisher for lithium-ion battery fires, PVSTOP, a light-blocking coating for solar panels during emergencies, and the P50 Monnex extinguisher for industrial applications.
