Complii acquisition adds PBSA sector depth

Complii, formerly known as Compliance Group, has acquired Tay Fire and Security, a Nottingham based fire safety specialist, in its 20th acquisition, expanding its role in purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) building compliance.

The company said Tay Fire and Security has an established presence in the PBSA sector and will enhance Complii’s capability in that market.

Complii stated that the transaction supports its aim to work as a partner on shared safety goals through collaboration and clear communication.

Tay Fire and Security services and markets

According to Complii, Tay Fire and Security was founded in 2016 by Managing Director Mark Sanders and Operations Director Ellie Sanders and delivers a range of fire safety and security services.

Its fire safety work includes fire alarms, emergency lighting, fire extinguishers, dry risers, dampers, automatic opening vents (AOVs) and sprinkler systems.

The company also provides security solutions including CCTV, intruder alarms and access control.

Complii highlighted Tay Fire and Security’s strong position in PBSA projects as a key factor in the acquisition.

The firm said this sector knowledge complements Complii’s wider building compliance portfolio.

Leadership continuity and customer service focus

Complii confirmed that Mark and Ellie Sanders, along with the existing team, will continue to lead Tay Fire and Security.

The company stated that Tay Fire and Security will gain access to broader resources, wider geographic coverage and complementary compliance services through the Complii group.

Complii added that this structure is intended to maintain Tay Fire and Security’s established customer relationships while widening the service offer.

Mark Sanders, Managing Director at Tay Fire and Security, and Ellie Sanders, Operations Director at Tay Fire and Security, said: “Joining Complii marks an exciting new chapter for Tay.

“Our customers will continue to receive the same exceptional service they know and trust, now enhanced by the scale, resources, and expertise of Complii.

“This move gives Tay the ability to offer an even broader range of building compliance services to our customers while maintaining the personal approach that defines our business.”

Sarah Dixon, Chief Executive Officer at Complii, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Mark, Ellie, and the entire Tay team to Complii.

“Their client-first approach and strong presence in the PBSA sector make them an excellent fit for Complii.

“With Complii’s nationwide footprint and complementary compliance services, we can further support Tay’s growth and deliver even greater value to customers.”

Implications for building owners, managers and contractors

The acquisition creates an expanded offer for building owners and facility managers who rely on integrated fire safety and security services.

For PBSA operators, Tay Fire and Security’s experience with fire alarms, emergency lighting, extinguishers, dry risers, dampers, AOVs and sprinkler systems combines with Complii’s wider building compliance activities under one group.

This is relevant for system installers, fire-protection contractors and electrical contractors who work on projects requiring coordinated fire safety and security installations.

Architects, building services engineers and fire engineering consultants involved in PBSA and multi-residential schemes may need to account for Tay Fire and Security’s role within the Complii group when planning specifications and maintenance strategies.

Facility managers across commercial and residential portfolios could find that a single group relationship covers both fire safety and security equipment, including CCTV, intruder alarms and access control.

For procurement officers, the acquisition outlines how Complii is assembling a broader compliance service offer around established regional specialists such as Tay Fire and Security.

This development may influence future contract structures where combined fire safety, security and wider compliance services are sourced from a single provider group.
