Fire safety improvements at Doncaster’s Eco-Power Stadium

The Eco-Power Stadium, home to Doncaster Rovers F.C., has enhanced its fire safety infrastructure by partnering with JLA Fire and Security to install Hochiki Europe’s open protocol technology.

The 15,231-capacity stadium, a key venue for football, rugby league, and hospitality events in Doncaster, required a fire safety system upgrade.

The installation, completed during the off-season, allowed the stadium to remain operational.

Compliance with certification requirements ensured events could proceed safely.

Hochiki’s ESP devices were selected due to their compatibility with open protocol systems, which support seamless integration with other building systems like security.

This approach reduces maintenance costs and improves operational efficiency.

Hochiki ESP devices simplify integration and boost reliability

JLA Fire and Security utilised Hochiki Europe’s ESP devices, including smoke, heat, and multi-sensors.

Their open protocol compatibility allowed integration with the stadium’s security systems, enhancing overall site performance.

The devices also improve reliability by reducing false alarms.

A representative from JLA Fire and Security said: “Hochiki products, in particular ESP, are our ‘go-to’ for fire safety installations, particularly for projects of this size.

“They provide incredible reliability when it comes to false alarms.”

The modernisation of the stadium’s systems replaced an outdated managed protocol fire alarm with an advanced open protocol solution.

Comprehensive fire and intruder alarm management

JLA’s total care contract ensures the stadium benefits from expert installation, routine maintenance, and quick response to faults.

The agreement covers both fire and intruder alarm systems, ensuring optimal performance.

The Eco-Power Stadium team now has a robust safety infrastructure in place, meeting regulatory requirements and enhancing the venue’s operational capabilities.

Benefits of the fire safety upgrade

The new system enables the Eco-Power Stadium to host large-scale events with confidence in its safety measures.

The reduced false alarm rate and integration of building systems provide long-term benefits to the stadium and its stakeholders.

This project reflects the growing demand for open protocol solutions in complex venues.
