FEU seminar addresses recruitment and retention challenges in fire service
As reported by the Federation of European Fire Officers (FEU), a seminar on recruitment and retention, held during its 56th Council meeting on 7th November 2024 in Limassol, Cyprus, focused on the need for new strategies to address current workforce challenges within the fire service.
Titled “The War for Talent,” the seminar discussed the recruitment and retention difficulties faced by the sector, with the FEU proposing a range of measures aimed at attracting and retaining qualified personnel.
The FEU stated that sustaining a skilled workforce is essential to the fire service’s role in public safety.

Additionally, the FEU recommended expanding recruitment efforts to include individuals from diverse backgrounds to better reflect the communities served.
