Fire Sector Federation transitions to Fire Sector Confederation
The Fire Sector Federation has been registered as a UK charity and will now operate as the Fire Sector Confederation.
According to the organisation, this change is part of its strategic plan to establish itself as a public interest enterprise.
The transition is intended to ensure impartiality and prevent dominance by any single stakeholder or interest group.
Steve McGuirk, Executive Director of the Fire Sector Confederation, said: “We are delighted to have achieved this milestone in our strategy.
“Charitable status supports the Confederation’s role as a neutral force to create a safer environment.”
New identity reflects strategic vision
The organisation stated that the name change was required as part of the charity application process.
However, it also aligns with its strategic vision to enhance collaboration across the fire sector.
McGuirk said: “The name change better reflects our focus to deliver a strategic vision for collaboration that connects key stakeholders across the fire ecosystem to overcome the barriers to change and deliver meaningful and effective solutions to enhance fire safety in our society.”
In the coming weeks, the Confederation will update its corporate branding and website to reflect the rebrand.
This will include a new digital collaboration hub for members.
Fire Chain model guides sector-wide collaboration
The Fire Sector Confederation has recently published its strategic action plan, which outlines a framework for fire safety improvements.
A key component is the ‘Fire Chain’ model, which seeks to clarify roles across industries and improve knowledge sharing.
The model promotes transparency, technology adoption and professional networking to strengthen fire safety efforts.
Supporting government consultation responses
The organisation will continue to coordinate industry responses to government consultations and create spaces for stakeholders to collaborate.
It states that its goal is to provide a structured platform where industry professionals can work together to develop best practices and address emerging fire safety challenges.
