FPA to relocate training operations to Oxfordshire

The Fire Protection Association (FPA) has announced that it will move to new premises in north Oxfordshire in January 2026.

According to the organisation, the relocation follows 21 years of operations at the Fire Service College and marks the next stage in expanding its training and education services.

The new site at Pembroke House near Banbury will become the FPA Training and Education Centre.

The organisation said the move involves substantial investment in new facilities designed to support a growing portfolio of training courses.

The FPA added that the centre will feature four new classrooms, doubling current teaching capacity to meet increased demand from delegates.

New classrooms and immersive training suite

According to the FPA, the new facility will house a practical training suite developed with industry partners.

This space will include immersive simulation environments designed to enhance learning experiences.

The organisation said the centre will also offer modern spaces suitable for bespoke training programmes created and delivered by FPA professionals.

The expansion aims to support a wider range of course types, including the FPA’s 2026 offerings and custom programmes for client organisations.

Facilities designed for accessibility and learner support

The FPA stated that equal access and fair treatment are central to its training approach.

A dedicated space within the new centre will allow trainers to provide one-to-one support for learners.

The organisation added that the layout will facilitate assessment methods appropriate to individual needs, ensuring fair access for all participants.

According to the FPA, the new environment is intended to empower learners by combining practical experience with professional support resources.

FPA chief executive outlines goals for 2026

Dr Gavin Dunn, Chief Executive of the FPA, said: “Alongside our growing state-of-the-art laboratory at Blockley, Gloucestershire, the new Training and Education Centre at Banbury will allow us to continue to offer our high-quality services in modern surroundings.”

“It demonstrates the FPA’s commitment to supporting the advancement of fire safety across the UK market, and we look forward to welcoming training delegates to our new premises in January.”

Relevance for fire and safety professionals

The FPA’s relocation to a new training and education centre in Oxfordshire will be of interest to training officers, instructors and fire safety consultants who depend on accredited courses for maintaining professional competence.

By expanding classroom capacity and introducing a practical training suite, the organisation will be able to accommodate more learners and deliver more diverse course types.

The inclusion of dedicated one-to-one learning spaces also indicates a stronger emphasis on accessibility and tailored assessment.

Professionals seeking bespoke training for their teams may benefit from the updated facilities and modernised delivery methods.

The move aligns with the FPA’s broader effort to enhance national training provision through new facilities in both Blockley and Banbury.
