New turnout jacket launched by Globe Manufacturing

Globe Manufacturing Company has launched its latest firefighter turnout jacket, the G-XTREME PRO Jacket, which is now available for order.

According to the company, the new model builds on Globe’s long history of turnout gear development to enhance comfort, mobility and fit for modern firefighters.

The company confirmed that the jacket is certified to meet the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1971, 2018 Edition and NFPA 1970, 2025 Edition standards.

The jacket is produced at Globe’s manufacturing facility in Pittsfield, New Hampshire.

Design prioritises comfort and flexibility

Globe explained that the G-XTREME PRO Jacket incorporates a three-panel construction with a mesh liner designed to reduce bulk while maintaining protection and mobility.

The design also includes the AXTION Back and AXTION Sleeve system from the company’s earlier turnout styles.

According to the manufacturer, these features provide additional length and flexibility when firefighters are reaching or moving during operations.

Kevlar mesh channels are combined with the liner to create the AXTION System, which is intended to improve movement while minimising weight and restriction.

Updated collar and fit options

The company stated that the G-XTREME PRO Jacket includes a redesigned T-collar to improve compatibility with helmets and self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).

The collar can also fold out of the way when not in use.

Fit options have been expanded to include men’s straight, men’s tapered and women’s fits.

The company confirmed that chest sizes range from 28 to 60 inches, with hem lengths available from 26 to 40 inches in one-inch increments.

These additions are designed to ensure improved fit across a broader range of body types.

Practical operational features

According to Globe, a mic pass-through option allows radios to be worn under the jacket without affecting comfort or protective performance.

The lapel microphone can be attached to a strap without being routed through the jacket opening.

The company said these practical features support firefighters working in variable and high-intensity environments where flexibility and equipment access are critical.

The G-XTREME PRO Jacket joins Globe’s portfolio of protective apparel for structural firefighting.

Relevance for fire and safety professionals

The release of the G-XTREME PRO Jacket is relevant to fire and rescue services, procurement officers and PPE specifiers evaluating structural firefighting gear.

The design changes, such as the mesh liner and AXTION system, directly relate to firefighter comfort, weight distribution and mobility during operations.

Expanded fit options may affect uniform procurement policies by offering more inclusive sizing and improved compatibility with SCBA and helmet systems.

Compliance with NFPA 1971 and NFPA 1970 standards is also pertinent to fire chiefs and safety officers seeking certified PPE that aligns with 2025 updates.
