High-rise tower fire leads to mass evacuation in Dubai

A fire broke out at the Marina Pinnacle tower in Dubai Marina on the night of 13 June 2025, as reported by Khaleej Times.

The Dubai Media Office (DMO) stated that the fire originated from the upper floors of the 67-storey high-rise, prompting the immediate deployment of emergency services.

The DMO said all residents were safely evacuated, with no injuries reported.

Evacuation efforts included support from ambulance teams and mental health staff on site.

A previous fire occurred at the same building in 2015.

Emergency services evacuate all residents safely

According to Khaleej Times, the fire began shortly after 9.30pm on Friday.

A resident of the 49th floor told Khaleej Times: “The fire happened past 9.30pm.

“I woke up from my sleep after smelling pungent smoke coming into my room.

“I heard my housemates calling me and we hurriedly went down the building in our pajamas.”

The resident said smoke appeared to be coming from the upper floors, possibly the 60th floor or higher.

Fire trucks and ambulances arrived at the scene soon after.

Another resident said fire crews were still attempting to contain the fire an hour after it started.

At 1.44am, the DMO confirmed that “specialised teams successfully evacuated all residents from the 67-storey building, prioritising their health and safety throughout the operation.”

Medical and mental support teams deployed to the scene

The Dubai Media Office issued multiple updates during the night.

At 2.09am, the DMO said: “Ambulance teams and medical staff are on site to offer full medical and mental support to the safely evacuated residents.”

By 2.21am, the DMO confirmed the safe evacuation of 3,820 residents from 764 apartments.

It reported no injuries or fatalities.

Residents were seen waiting on the street with pets in humid nighttime conditions.

Some took refuge near the Marina Towers Tram Station but reported that the smoke was still detectable from a distance.

Fire follows history of previous high-rise incidents in the area

This is not the first time the Marina Pinnacle tower has experienced a fire.

Khaleej Times reported that on 25 May 2015, a fire started on the 47th floor of the building due to a kitchen incident.

That fire spread to the 48th floor before being extinguished by Dubai Civil Defence.

The Marina Pinnacle is located close to The Torch tower, which caught fire in both 2015 and 2017.

There were no injuries or casualties in the most recent incident.

Second fire incident reported nearby earlier that day

Khaleej Times also reported a separate fire earlier on the same day.

A car caught fire at the parking area of Sulafa Tower, located a short distance from Marina Pinnacle.

The report did not indicate any link between the two incidents.

No casualties were reported in the vehicle fire.

The cause of both fires has not yet been disclosed by authorities.
