Holík International launches Firra® Chainsaw firefighting boots with Level 2 cut protection

Holík International has expanded its Firra® firefighting boots range with a new chainsaw-protective boot offering certified Level 2 cut resistance while maintaining a lightweight design

Holík International has introduced the new Firra® Chainsaw (CH), expanding its Firra® firefighting footwear range with certified Level 2 chainsaw cut protection in accordance with ISO 17249:2013.

Designed for firefighters who regularly use chainsaws during emergency operations, the new model combines enhanced protection with a lightweight construction. Compared with the standard Firra® boot, the cut-resistant design adds just 50 grams per boot (size 42, Firra® LT CH), making it one of the lightest options in the firefighting chainsaw-protective footwear segment.

The launch reflects the growing role of chainsaws in modern firefighting. Firefighters are increasingly using the tools during technical rescue incidents, severe weather responses and wildland firefighting operations, where they create firebreaks and remove hazardous trees. In these environments, chainsaw-resistant footwear forms an important part of personal protective equipment.

Holík International said traditional chainsaw-protective footwear has often been associated with increased weight and reduced flexibility because of the reinforced construction needed to resist chainsaw contact. The Firra® Chainsaw has been developed to overcome these limitations while meeting Level 2 certification requirements.

Ilona Krupková, Footwear Development Director at Holík International, said: “From the very beginning, we knew we did not want to simply add cut protection. Our goal was to preserve the lightness and comfort firefighters have come to expect from the Firra® range. That is why we developed our own construction solution, enabling us to meet the Level 2 certification requirements while keeping weight gain to an absolute minimum.”

The new footwear incorporates several comfort-focused features, including the ErgoFit PRO cushioning system, an ergonomically shaped collar to reduce pressure points and flexible zones in the front, side and rear of the boot to support natural foot movement despite the integrated cut-resistant layer.

Additional features include the QuickZIP fastening system and GRIP System pull loops for easier donning while wearing firefighting gloves. The boots also feature AdaptFIT Insole Technology, with anatomical insoles available in three instep heights, alongside the TrueFOOT last, developed using measurements from professional firefighters to provide additional space around the toes and heel.

Krupková added: “We wanted Level 2 chainsaw protection to be a feature that does not come at the expense of comfort. Firra® Chainsaw proves that advanced protection can be combined with low weight while maintaining natural foot movement and all-day wearing comfort.”

The Firra® Chainsaw range will be available through firefighting equipment distributors in two versions: the textile Firra® TX CH and the full-leather Firra® LT CH. Holík International said the new models will be priced only slightly above the standard Firra® footwear despite the addition of certified Level 2 chainsaw cut protection.
