OnGuard Cloud launched for remote building management
Honeywell has announced the launch of its LenelS2 OnGuard Cloud solution in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
According to Honeywell, the system allows customers in these regions to remotely manage OnGuard access control systems via a cloud-based platform for the first time.
The company stated that the OnGuard system is a scalable on-premise security management platform that integrates access control, video surveillance and identity management.
It said the new cloud service removes the need for site-based server hardware and enables full configuration control from any connected location.
Honeywell added that the expansion aligns with demand for connected security across the built environment.
Features of the OnGuard Cloud platform
Honeywell explained that OnGuard Cloud replaces on-site servers with a custom-configured cloud service hosted on Amazon Web Services.
It added that the service follows cybersecurity best practices and includes automatic updates and maintenance.
The company confirmed that the solution gives customers access to integrations through the LenelS2 OpenAccess Alliance Program.
It noted that the system also includes all-inclusive licensing for features such as badge printing, visitor management and advanced reporting.
Honeywell stated that support services are available to assist existing OnGuard customers transitioning to the new cloud system.
Customer flexibility and IT strategy
Phil Daniell, President Europe, Building Automation at Honeywell, said: “OnGuard Cloud supports the growing need to move critical IT architecture to the cloud, enabling improved control of key systems, more efficient use of data to drive autonomy and improvements in cost and process efficiency.
“OnGuard Cloud is a robust, customisable enterprise access control solution that enables existing OnGuard customers to move their systems to the cloud in a flexible way, in-line with their broader IT transformation strategies.”
Regional hosting capabilities
Honeywell reported that OnGuard Cloud can be hosted from multiple locations across the EMEA region.
The company explained that this approach provides flexibility and resilience to customers managing multiple sites.
It added that the hosting model ensures access to newer versions of the OnGuard platform as they become available.
Honeywell noted that the use of AWS and common services supports a consistent upgrade path for regional users.
OnGuard system integration and ecosystem
Honeywell said the cloud solution maintains access to the full range of capabilities within the OnGuard ecosystem.
It added that this includes certified third-party integrations through the OpenAccess Alliance Program.
According to the company, the ecosystem allows for customisation across diverse customer needs and operational environments.
Honeywell confirmed that the cloud service continues to offer advanced reporting, visitor management and other licensed features within the unified platform.
Relevance for fire and safety professionals
Fire and safety professionals working in facilities management may need to understand how cloud-based access control platforms affect building safety operations.
Remote monitoring and configuration options influence incident response, access authorisation and site security protocols.
Cloud deployment also changes the responsibilities of IT and safety teams regarding system maintenance, cybersecurity and operational resilience.
Understanding the integration of access control with broader safety management systems can help professionals assess risks and benefits for their organisations.
