Fire safety system installed at Norwegian heritage building

Hyfire has reported that its wireless fire detection devices have been installed at a historic mixed-use property in Norway.

The building, which dates back to the 1800s and contains retail units, offices, storage spaces and apartments, required a system that would protect occupants while preserving the building’s historical structure.

The local fire department recommended Hyfire for the project. According to Hyfire, the suggestion was made based on its previous experience fitting wireless systems in similar heritage buildings across Europe.

Installation completed using Hyfire Taurus system

The installation used Hyfire’s Taurus wireless system.

The manufacturer explained that the system was chosen for its ability to be installed quickly without causing damage to interior surfaces.

Michael Gudbransen, Sales & Operations Manager at Holta & Håland Safety AS, Hyfire’s distribution partner in Norway, said: “Given the fact the structure was a protected historical site, by installing the Taurus wireless system we made sure the whole building was safeguarded without the need for invasive work.”

Hyfire stated that after an initial survey, the system was installed rapidly and included 100 devices controlled by Advanced MX Pro 5 panels.

Compliance with heritage regulations ensured

Hyfire said the project was delivered in collaboration with a local installation firm.

The company added that all national fire safety and heritage protection regulations were followed during the work.

It stated that the Taurus system’s design allowed the team to meet regulatory standards without impacting the visual or structural integrity of the building.

The installation was completed within a few days.

Hyfire expands historic building portfolio across Europe

Hyfire explained that the Norwegian installation adds to its portfolio of wireless systems installed in heritage and historic buildings across Europe.

The company said that increasing awareness of the need to protect both lives and historically important buildings has prompted more building owners to consider wireless systems.

Hyfire stated that wireless devices offer flexibility in layout and fast deployment, making them well suited to buildings where traditional cabling would be disruptive or prohibited.
