International Code Council announces participation at Riyadh fire operations event

The International Code Council (ICC) has announced its participation in the 2024 International Fire Operations Conference (IFOC), to be held from November 3 to November 7 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The event, held under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Interior Minister of Saudi Arabia, will bring together global fire safety professionals to address resilience and crisis management challenges within fire operations.

According to the ICC, this conference will serve as an essential gathering for leaders in fire safety and emergency response to discuss innovative strategies and emerging issues.

With evolving building systems, materials, and methods, IFOC 2024 aims to provide a platform to confront and find solutions to critical building safety challenges, as reported by the International Code Council.

ICC presentation to address global building safety challenges

Beth Tubbs, Vice President of Codes Development at the ICC, will represent the Council at the conference.

She is scheduled to present “A Holistic & Coordinated Approach to Building Safety,” focusing on the increasing complexity of fire safety in a technologically interconnected world.

Tubbs’ presentation will draw on recent global fire incidents to highlight the need for comprehensive approaches to building safety that adapt to these complexities.

Beth Tubbs stated: “Participating in the International Fire Operations Conference is a vital opportunity to tackle the evolving challenges in fire safety.

“As the landscape of risks continues to shift with technological and environmental changes, fostering innovation and collaboration is more important than ever.

“I look forward to exchanging knowledge and exploring new strategies with global experts, all with the shared goal of building safer, more resilient communities for the future.”

Emphasis on the 2024 International Fire Code and International Building Code

A central part of Tubbs’ presentation will focus on the 2024 International Fire Code and the International Building Code, both designed to address emerging fire safety challenges.

Tubbs will discuss the need for an adaptable regulatory framework that can keep pace with technological advances and environmental shifts, reinforcing ICC’s commitment to building resilient infrastructure that meets modern safety demands.

By sharing insights on these updated codes, the ICC aims to underline the importance of a harmonised approach to fire safety standards worldwide.

The conference will offer attendees an opportunity to learn about the latest developments and foster dialogue on best practices.

The 2024 IFOC’s role in global fire safety collaboration

The upcoming IFOC serves as a forum for international cooperation on fire safety issues.

As fire risks and building complexities increase, the ICC sees the conference as a chance for dialogue and unified action.

The Council’s involvement reaffirms its commitment to advancing global safety standards and collaborating with international stakeholders to enhance resilience, safety, and sustainability in building practices.

The ICC’s engagement at the IFOC signals a continued effort to shape robust safety codes that align with modern global challenges, supporting communities in achieving safer and more adaptable building practices.

This participation aligns with the ICC’s goals of strengthening international safety regulations.
