Intersec Awards 2025: Finalists revealed for fire, safety, and security excellence

Intersec Awards 2025 shortlist announced

The Intersec Awards 2025 are returning for the fourth year, recognising achievements in fire safety, security, and related industries.

According to Intersec, this year’s competition attracted a total of 1,412 entries across 15 categories, spread over three main divisions: Fire and Safety, Security, and Industry.

Among the most popular categories were Excellence in Fire Safety, which saw 196 entries, Outstanding Safety Solutions with 156 entries, and Outstanding Commercial Security Solutions with 131 entries.

This year, three new award categories have been introduced: Excellence in Testing, Evaluation, and Certification, Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of the Year, and Consulting Leadership in Fire Safety, Security, and Cybersecurity.

New award categories to highlight cutting-edge achievements

Messe Frankfurt Middle East’s Portfolio Director, Grant Tuchten, commented on the evolving nature of the awards: “The Intersec Awards 2025 features a broad range of categories, truly reflecting the diversity and scope of the industry.

“This year, we are offering even more opportunities for businesses to showcase their innovative services and solutions across multiple sectors, including cutting-edge advancements in cyber security, fire protection, and perimeter security.”

The new categories introduced include the Excellence in Testing, Evaluation, and Certification Award, for which Emirates Safety Laboratory, UL Solutions, and the Fire Protection Association are shortlisted.

Rising Star and CISO of the Year among popular categories

The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of the Year category saw strong participation, with notable finalists such as Jody Blanchard (Zimmer Biomet), Harrison Nnaji (FBN), and Sultan Mahmood Malik (Huawei Technologies).

Other finalists include Ahmed Elshamy (Fujairah eGovernment) and Shahmeer Amir (Authiun), highlighting a diverse field of experts in cybersecurity.

Additionally, the Rising Star Award for Emirati Talent features finalists like Lt. Col. Dr. Humaid Al Ali (General Command of Civil Defense) and Dr Maryam Bin Essa (Dubai Municipality), recognising emerging talent in fire safety and security.

Celebrating women in fire safety and security

This year’s Women Trailblazers in Security/Fire Safety Award will highlight the contributions of several prominent figures, including Dr. Naseem Rafee (Dubai Municipality) and Salma Al Ali (Dubai Civil Defense).

Team achievements will also be celebrated, with awards recognising outstanding teams in both Fire Safety and Security, underlining the collaborative nature of progress in these industries.

Other key awards include Fire Safety Excellence Project for the Middle East & Africa and Exemplary Perimeter Security Solutions.

Intersec Awards 2025: Summary

The Intersec Awards 2025 will return to honour the achievements of individuals, teams, and organisations in fire safety, security, and related sectors.

A total of 1,412 entries have been received across 15 categories.

Three new awards, including the Excellence in Testing, Evaluation, and Certification Award, have been added.

Finalists for major categories such as the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of the Year and the Rising Star Award for Emirati Talent have been announced.

The winners will be unveiled at the gala dinner on 15 January during the Intersec 2025 event at the Dubai World Trade Centre, which will feature over 1,200 exhibitors and is expected to draw more than 52,000 visitors.
