Focus on fire safety strategies at Intersec Saudi Arabia 2024
Intersec Saudi Arabia, the leading trade fair for security, safety, and fire protection in Saudi Arabia, is set to spotlight the importance of fire safety strategies in the built environment.
As reported by Messe Frankfurt Middle East, this focus will be prominently featured in a panel discussion led by Neil Odin, Chief Fire Officer from the UK National Fire Chiefs Council.
Odin, with over 30 years of experience in the UK fire service, will share insights on the challenges faced by the Middle East during the panel discussion titled Crisis to Recovery: Strategies for Effective Fire Post-Incident Management, scheduled for the opening day of the exhibition.
Odin will discuss the crucial phases following a fire incident, emphasizing best practices and innovative approaches to post-incident recovery.
The session aims to highlight the importance of integrating fire-safe building designs with comprehensive prevention strategies.
He stated: “A response strategy cannot stand alone; it must be intricately linked with fire-safe building designs and comprehensive prevention strategies.”
Joining him on the panel will be Jamal Al Ghamdi, Corporate Process Safety Director at Sadara Chemical Company.
Expanding the focus of fire safety in construction projects
According to research from Mordor Intelligence, Saudi Arabia is currently undergoing over 5,200 construction projects, with an estimated value exceeding USD 819 billion.
These projects cover various sectors, including residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure.
The scale of these developments underscores the necessity for effective fire-safe design strategies.
Odin highlighted the potential for Saudi Arabia to lead globally in fire management by focusing on “designing out” risks in new developments.
In addition to Odin’s panel, the Summit’s first day will feature sessions on Educating and Empowering Communities: Promoting Fire Safety Awareness and Preparedness and Fire Safety Hazards for Electric Vehicles.
Other topics include Lessons Learned from Past Disasters: Empowering Emergency Preparedness.
Day two to cover advanced fire safety technologies
The second day of the Fire Protection & Technology Summit will delve into advanced technologies and methodologies critical to fire safety.
Sessions will address topics such as Integrating IoT and AI in Fire Safety Systems, Maturity of Robotics Deployment in Fire Fighting, and Safeguarding Fire Safety Infrastructure Against Threats and Challenges.
Experts will also discuss the challenges posed by climate change to fire safety, providing a comprehensive overview of the latest developments in the field.
These discussions are part of Intersec Saudi Arabia’s broader agenda to ensure that the region stays at the forefront of fire safety innovation, aligning with the global shift towards smarter, safer environments.
High demand for exhibition space at Intersec Saudi Arabia 2024
Intersec Saudi Arabia, organised by 1st Arabia and licensed by Messe Frankfurt, will also host the Future Security and Safety Summit, which will explore the convergence of security thought leadership, innovation, and global expertise.
The event is expected to draw significant attention, with the exhibition space sold out two months ahead of the event’s opening.
The show floor has expanded by 34% from the previous year to accommodate demand, now covering 23,000 sqm across five halls and a dedicated outdoor area.
Exhibitors will showcase products across five categories: Commercial & Perimeter Security, Cybersecurity, Homeland Security & Policing, Fire and Rescue, and Safety and Health.
