From helmet-mounted lights to vehicle-mounted scene illumination, Streamlight’s lighting solutions ensure firefighters have reliable visibility when responding to hazardous incidents

Firefighting demands peak physical and mental performance in the most hazardous and unpredictable conditions. From advancing through smoke-filled structures to executing technical rescues and hazardous materials operations, firefighters rely on specialised tools to perform their duties effectively.

Limited visibility is a constant challenge, making high-performance lighting a critical component of their gear. Whether locating victims, assessing risks, or coordinating efforts in extreme environments, dependable lighting ensures firefighters can operate safely and efficiently.

The company’s extensive research and development process ensures that each product is rigorously tested to guarantee reliability in real-world conditions.

Streamlight’s range of products is specifically designed to cover all lighting needs, whether mounted on a helmet, worn on turnout gear, or used on a fire truck. Each product is carefully engineered to provide optimal functionality, allowing firefighters to focus on their critical tasks without worrying about visibility limitations.

Helmet-mounted lighting: Vantage® II

A firefighter’s helmet is one of their most vital pieces of gear, offering protection while also serving as a platform for essential tools. Helmet-mounted lighting provides hands-free illumination, allowing firefighters to navigate smoke-filled environments while keeping their hands free for critical tasks. The Vantage® II is a lightweight yet exceptionally durable helmet-mounted light designed specifically for firefighting helmets.

Built from high-impact resistant polymer, the Vantage II is designed to endure extreme temperatures and the harsh conditions encountered in firefighting operations. Its powerful LED produces an intense, focused beam that cuts through smoke and darkness, providing exceptional visibility in low-light conditions. The compact design ensures a comfortable fit without adding unnecessary weight to the helmet.

A large push-button switch allows easy operation with gloved hands, while a safety blue taillight LED ensures firefighters can be seen from behind. Additionally, its front-loading battery capability allows for convenient replacement without removing the light from the helmet. The Vantage II is waterproof, ensuring performance in all weather conditions.

Gear-mounted lighting:  Survivor® X ATEX & Survivor® Pivot ATEX

In many firefighting scenarios, gear-mounted lighting is crucial for providing illumination without restricting movement. The Survivor® X ATEX and Survivor® Pivot ATEX are purpose-built for hands-free use, offering powerful lighting solutions that attach securely to firefighting gear. These models are designed to withstand the extreme environments that firefighters encounter, ensuring reliable performance when it matters most.

The Survivor® X ATEX is an intrinsically safe lighting solution, meeting ATEX safety standards for use in hazardous environments where flammable gases and vapours may be present. Its ultra-bright LED delivers a focused beam that penetrates dense smoke, allowing firefighters to navigate safely and efficiently.

The ergonomic design allows for easy attachment to turnout gear, ensuring that firefighters always have a reliable source of hands-free lighting that will not snag. Its low-profile bezel prevents interference with gear, while a spring-loaded clip with a built-in D-ring offers multiple attachment options.

The large translucent button with an LED battery status indicator allows easy operation with gloved hands. The light is available in rechargeable and alkaline models, and it is both dust-tight and waterproof.

The Survivor® Pivot ATEX offers additional versatility with a pivoting head that enables firefighters to adjust the light angle as needed. This adjustable feature is particularly useful for illuminating workspaces and focusing light on specific areas during emergency operations. It features a dual beam with a cool white, high-power LED spot beam for long-distance illumination and a downward-angled flood beam for area lighting. Constructed with rugged materials, it can withstand impacts, high temperatures, and harsh environmental conditions.

Vehicle-mounted lighting: Vulcan® 180 X ATEX, Portable Scene Light, and Portable Scene Light II

In addition to personal lighting, fire trucks must be equipped with powerful illumination systems to enhance visibility at emergency scenes. Vehicle-mounted lights play a crucial role in lighting up areas where fires have occurred, accident scenes, and large-scale rescue operations. Streamlight’s Vulcan® 180 X ATEX, Portable Scene Light, and Portable Scene Light II provide high-performance rechargeable lighting solutions designed for use on fire trucks and emergency vehicles. They can be charged on the truck and be ready for use on the scene.

The rechargeable Vulcan® 180 X ATEX lantern is engineered for extreme brightness, producing up to 1,200 lumens to provide widespread illumination in dark or low-visibility conditions.

The light features a 180-degree articulating head, allowing firefighters to direct light exactly where it is needed.

Despite its impressive power output, the Vulcan 180 X is lightweight and portable, making it easy to transport and mount on fire trucks or command vehicles. It also features two blue taillight LEDs for visibility in thick smoke. Its vehicle mount includes a 12V DC direct wire rack and a quick-release shoulder strap for convenience.

The Portable Scene Light (PSL) provides up to 10,000 lumens on high mode and features a 72-inch extension pole for wide-area illumination. Its narrow footprint allows it to be used in both open spaces and tight, confined areas. The low mode provides up to 12 hours of runtime, and it can run continuously when used with an AC or DC power cord. It is dust-tight and waterproof.

The Portable Scene Light II (PSL II) offers a compact footprint, a 360-degree rotating head, and five intensity levels. It features hooked feet for hanging over doors, guard rails, and fences, or multiple units can be stacked to create a “light tower” with multi-level lighting. With zero deployment time, it is waterproof and designed for rapid deployment in any emergency scenario.

Firefighters deserve the best

Firefighters operate in some of the most demanding and hazardous conditions, making high-quality lighting an essential part of their gear. Streamlight’s extensive range of lighting solutions ensures that firefighters have reliable illumination in every scenario, whether mounted on their helmets, attached to their turnout gear, or installed in their vehicles.

By providing durable, innovative, and high-performance lighting tools, Streamlight continues to support firefighters worldwide in their mission to save lives and protect communities.
