Logistics expansion to support Austrian manufacturing
Magirus has opened a new logistics hub at Panattoni Park Graz Süd in Leibnitz, Austria.
The facility spans approximately 2,500 square metres and is intended to improve logistics efficiency and support the expansion of manufacturing at the Magirus Lohr plant in Premstätten.
Thomas Hilse, CEO of Magirus, said: “The opening of this logistics hub marks a decisive step in the strategic development of Magirus in Austria and beyond.
“The location not only strengthens our supply chains, but also enables us to grow sustainably and increase our efficiency.
“The use of CO2-neutral shuttle transport also emphasises our commitment to the environment and sustainable corporate management.”
Increased production capacity for new FLEX fire engine
The new logistics hub is expected to improve warehousing and streamline supply chain operations for Magirus’ firefighting vehicle production.
Marc Kuntz, Director of Sales and Customer Service, said: “With the new logistics infrastructure, we are optimising our warehousing and expanding our production capacities.
“This not only improves customer service in Austria, but also internationally, as we can better meet the increasing demand for our innovative solutions.
“One focus will certainly be on the production of our new FLEX firefighting vehicle.”
Sustainability and environmental considerations
Magirus’ logistics centre has been designed to align with environmental standards, incorporating low-emission technologies and sustainable transport options.
The site has been built to GreenBuilding Gold certification standards, and its logistics operations use CO2-neutral shuttle transport between the business park and the plant in Premstätten.
Opening attended by political and industry representatives
The facility’s inauguration was attended by key political and industry representatives, including Christa Zengerer, Managing Director of ACstyria, and Mario Kunasek, Governor of Styria.
