Swiss site move to support service growth
Magirus has confirmed that its Swiss subsidiary will relocate from Hendschiken to Schongau in the canton of Lucerne, 15 kilometres away, in October 2025.
According to Magirus, the firefighting vehicle manufacturer will move will expand its customer service capabilities and is part of a wider transformation plan introduced earlier this year.
Renovation work is currently underway at the new location, which will host the company’s workshop, spare parts warehouse and office space.
Magirus stated that the relocation would provide additional capacity to meet service demand across Switzerland and Central Europe.
The company said the new facility is designed to accommodate both operational needs and customer visits.
Facility includes new workshop and visitor space
The company reported that the new site in Schongau will contain a 1,000 m² workshop, a spare parts warehouse, and more than 200 m² of office and showroom space.
Magirus stated that the site’s access to main transport routes would improve reach across Switzerland.
The manufacturer added that the facility will include a visitor area and is designed to streamline service delivery.
Magirus explained that the new base will support more tailored customer engagement and faster response times.
Two new mobile service vehicles added
To further strengthen local operations, Magirus confirmed it is increasing its fleet in Switzerland.
Linda Schmidt, Managing Director of Magirus Schweiz GmbH, said:
“We are delighted to be starting out at our new location with the entire Magirus Switzerland team.
“This is an important step and sends a strong signal as part of our group-wide transformation plan – we are expanding!”
Magirus stated that the new service vehicles will allow for on-site diagnostics and light maintenance directly at fire brigade locations.
Grimpday event to feature Swiss and international teams
Magirus added that representatives from both the Swiss subsidiary and other Magirus teams will be present at this week’s Grimpday event in Geneva.
The company stated that the exhibition, beginning 4 June 2025, will provide an opportunity for attendees to meet the team and learn more about upcoming changes.
Magirus said further details on the opening date of the Schongau site will be published once renovation works are complete.
The move is expected to take place ahead of full operations commencing in October 2025.
