His career has seen him manage fire and emergency response functions at major projects worldwide, particularly in high hazard industries and airports.
Buckingham has implemented various business continuity and crisis management systems, leading technical teams of varying sizes.
Notably, he was heavily involved in the UK’s aviation response to COVID-19 while at Birmingham Airport and played a significant role in the repatriation of Afghan refugees in 2022.

In recent years, Buckingham led the Emergency Planning team responsible for the opening of Terminal A at Zayed International Airport in Abu Dhabi.
