Midwich Ignite, the corporate venture capital arm of Midwich Group, has announced a new investment in Ciqurix, a UK-based technology company specialising in video flame detection (VFD).
As reported by Midwich Ignite, Ciqurix’s technology targets fire detection in environments where traditional methods may fall short, such as in industrial areas or extreme weather conditions.
Ciqurix’s innovative video flame detection system, Ciqurix CORE, is designed to enhance fire detection in complex settings by using infrared and video analytics.
This investment positions Midwich Ignite as the lead backer in the funding round and allows it to secure a position on Ciqurix’s board, marking a significant partnership.
Ciqurix CORE’s unique capabilities
The Ciqurix CORE system is specifically tailored to detect fires in settings that pose challenges to conventional smoke and heat detection equipment.
These include damp, wet, high-temperature, and outdoor environments, making it suitable for facilities like waste management plants.
Using a combination of infrared sensors and advanced video analytics, Ciqurix CORE is designed for accurate detection over an extensive range.

Funding aimed at meeting new fire safety standards
The recent funding, spearheaded by Midwich Ignite, will support Ciqurix in achieving accreditation under the new fire standard LPS1976.
This accreditation is set to make Ciqurix CORE the only video flame detection product compliant with this latest industry benchmark.
