New product launch at National Safety Congress

MSA Safety has announced two new product launches at the 2025 National Safety Congress and Expo in Denver, Colorado.

According to MSA Safety, the products are the V-Gard H2 Full Brim Safety Helmet and the ALTAIR io 6 Multigas Detector.

The company said the helmet expands its existing V-Gard H2 range and is designed for additional protection against sun and debris.

It explained that the helmet meets ANSI Type II certification, includes an integrated chinstrap, and is compatible with most V-Gard accessories.

MSA Safety confirmed that the helmet is now available for order.

Head protection developments

MSA Safety reported that the V-Gard H2 Full Brim Safety Helmet extends its Type I and Type II head protection line.

It said the helmet provides top and lateral impact protection and can be equipped with the optional Mips safety system.

The company stated that the Mips system offers rotational impact protection intended to reduce the risk of traumatic brain injuries.

It added that the helmet includes options for quick customisation with existing or new logos.

The business noted that the helmet is designed to broaden choice for workers in high-risk industries.

Connected gas detection

MSA Safety announced that the ALTAIR io 6 Multigas Detector is the newest addition to its Connected Work Platform.

It said the device is designed for confined space monitoring and sampling applications.

The company confirmed that it is its first cellular-connected gas detector with an integrated pump.

It reported that the detector features MSA XCell sensors, a large visible screen, and a removable external battery.

The manufacturer added that the unit is small enough for handheld use or to be worn.

Integration with existing devices

MSA Safety explained that the ALTAIR io 6 will join the ALTAIR io 4 Gas Detection Wearable on the Connected Work Platform.

It said the io 4 is intended for personal continuous monitoring, while the io 6 is used for space sampling and pre-entry checks.

The company reported that both devices are applied in construction, manufacturing, oil and gas, and utilities markets.

It added that the detectors share the same interface and use MSA Grid software for integration.

The business explained that this allows safety managers to connect both devices across a fleet of monitors.

Data management and availability

MSA Safety stated that MSA Grid provides real-time location information and device alerts.

It reported that the system enables immediate access to data from individual units or across an entire fleet.

The company said the ALTAIR io 6 will be available for order later in 2025.

Stephanie Sciullo, President of MSA Americas, said: “We’re focused on helping to solve our customers’ safety challenges by developing solutions that enhance protection, compliance and efficiency.

“Expanding the portable detection capabilities in our Connected Work Platform and providing more choice in our head protection portfolio furthers MSA’s expertise in developing innovative safety products to help keep workers safe by providing the best solution for their job.”

Additional products at expo

MSA Safety noted that it is also featuring fall protection products at the event.

It stated that these include the V-SERIES harness, personal fall limiters and self-retracting lifelines.

The company confirmed that it is also displaying items from its respiratory protection portfolio.

It added that attendees can visit the company at Booth 1122 during the expo.

Relevance for fire and safety professionals

The introduction of new head protection and gas detection devices shows how manufacturers are responding to changing worksite safety requirements.

For fire and safety professionals, these launches provide an update on the technology being applied across construction, utilities, and industrial sectors.

The integration of detectors with connected platforms highlights how data-driven monitoring is becoming more common in safety management.

This development may inform purchasing, training, and compliance decisions across fire safety and rescue organisations.
