CTIF to represent new EU firefighters association in Brussels
A new association dedicated to representing firefighters across Europe has been established, with the International Association of Fire and Rescue Services (CTIF) taking a leading role.
According to CTIF, this group aims to consolidate the voices of firefighters from various EU member states, strengthening their representation in European policy discussions.
CTIF President Milan Dubravac stated that the organisation’s leadership will provide firefighters with greater influence over key regulatory and safety matters in the EU.
CTIF to drive EU policy impact
CTIF’s role within this association includes acting as the primary voice for firefighter interests, particularly in legislative discussions.
At the recent European Firefighters Summit held in Brussels in November, CTIF emphasised that the association’s objective is to foster direct dialogue with EU lawmakers, giving firefighters a unified platform for policy influence.
Dubravac commented: “This platform allows us to be a part of shaping EU policies on safety, a critical component of firefighter advocacy.”
European Firefighters Summit highlights association’s mission
The European Firefighters Summit served as the official launch event for the association, gathering representatives from multiple countries.
The summit outlined goals for collaborative efforts on fire safety legislation, emergency response protocols, and firefighter health standards.
These issues, CTIF noted, will be central to its upcoming advocacy efforts, supported by a structured approach to unify firefighter voices.
CTIF outlines next steps
With the association now officially operational, CTIF’s next focus is on building partnerships with EU agencies and legislators.
The organisation plans to hold regular consultations, gathering input from national fire services to present unified positions.
These partnerships, CTIF reports, will strengthen the EU’s overall fire safety framework while addressing specific challenges firefighters face.
