Edwards introduces Edge platform for mid-sized sites
Edwards has announced two new fire alarm systems for commercial use across the United States and Canada.
The company stated that the new platforms – Edge by Edwards and Evolve by Kidde Commercial – are designed to improve fire protection in small and mid-sized buildings.
Both systems are intended to simplify fire safety technology while meeting industry standards and installation needs.
The Edwards Edge platform is a modern fire alarm system built for mid-sized buildings with commercial occupancy.
It includes an intuitive touchscreen interface, flexible system design, and integration capability with existing building infrastructure.
Touchscreen control panel introduced with Edge
The Edge system is being released by Edwards, part of Kidde Global Solutions.
According to the company, Edge is a connected panel with addressable detection and a 10-inch touchscreen designed for usability.
The platform is built to support up to 1000 addressable devices and is compatible with various signalling and power modules.
The Edge platform is intended to support both new installations and upgrades of existing systems.
Kidde Commercial releases Evolve for simpler installations
The second product launch comes from Kidde Commercial, which is introducing the Evolve platform.
According to Kidde Commercial, the Evolve system delivers enterprise-level fire protection in an accessible format for smaller facilities.
It is aimed at supporting projects with streamlined installation and setup requirements.
The platform is available in 1-, 2- and 4-loop configurations and features automatic address programming and a colour touchscreen display.
It has virtual switches, up to 72 physical switches and 5 colour LED, all programmable, and is backwards compatible with VS2/VS4.
Both platforms align with US codes and standards
Both Edge and Evolve platforms are compliant with US National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes and standards.
This includes requirements under NFPA 72, which governs fire alarm systems and emergency communications.
The company stated that both platforms also meet Underwriters Laboratories (UL) requirements and are certified accordingly.
This ensures they can be used in commercial environments requiring code-compliant fire alarm systems.
Systems designed to support scalability and flexibility
The company explained that both platforms are scalable and adaptable depending on the site type.
Edge is positioned for mid-sized commercial buildings, whereas Evolve supports small to mid size projects requiring advanced protection within compact infrastructure.
Both systems were developed to offer efficient system commissioning and low lifecycle costs for building owners and engineers.
The manufacturer noted that additional support and system information are available through their national distributor network.
