Integration of Nokia and Motorola drone technologies

As reported by Nokia Drone Networks, Nokia and Motorola Solutions have unveiled a collaborative drone-in-a-box solution.

This turnkey system integrates Nokia Drone Networks technology with Motorola Solutions’ CAPE drone software.

Designed for first responders and mission-critical industries, the solution enhances situational awareness, streamlines operations, and enables faster decision-making through AI-powered capabilities.

The system allows drones to be remotely dispatched from operational centres to assess emergencies in real time.

The integration supports resource allocation by providing early assessments of emergency severity.

AI intelligence enhances decision-making, helping to protect workers, property, and the environment.

The CAPE software incorporates features such as geofencing, obstacle avoidance, and real-time terrain adaptation.

Nokia’s 4G/LTE and 5G connectivity further enables seamless remote operations beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS), ensuring broader coverage for critical missions.

The new solution aligns with existing Drone as First Responder (DFR) programs, which have demonstrated improved safety for emergency personnel.

Chula Vista Police Department’s Chief of Police, Roxana Kennedy, stated: “In 2018, we created the world’s first public safety Drone as First Responder program in partnership with Motorola Solutions, utilizing their CAPE software.

“Since then, we’ve successfully flown over 21,000 missions.”
