OroraTech partners with NVIDIA Earth-2 for real-time thermal data analysis
OroraTech has announced its adoption of NVIDIA’s Earth-2 digital twin platform, allowing for real-time thermal data integration to improve climate risk assessment and response.
The company operates a space-based wildfire detection system using data from 27 satellites, including proprietary thermal imaging satellites.
By integrating this data into Earth-2, researchers and developers can enhance their models for extreme weather and disaster mitigation.
Julia Gottfriedsen, Head of Data Science & AI at OroraTech, said: “We can help the planet using the thermal data we collect every single day from orbit.
“With NVIDIA Earth-2, developers can now harness our thermal intelligence to build more sophisticated and accurate models, helping societies mitigate the impacts of extreme weather events.”
Expanding access to satellite-based wildfire detection
OroraTech’s wildfire detection system is based on satellite thermal imaging, which allows for rapid identification of fires.
The system collects data from more than 27 satellites, including those equipped with OroraTech’s proprietary technology, providing near-real-time insights.
By making this data accessible through NVIDIA Earth-2, researchers and developers can integrate real-world thermal information into predictive models.
This could improve early warning systems for wildfires, helping emergency services respond more effectively.
Leveraging NVIDIA technology for real-time insights
OroraTech has used NVIDIA technology since its launch, equipping its satellites with NVIDIA Jetson systems.
These modules enable edge computing, allowing the satellites to process data in orbit and detect wildfires within minutes.
This capability means emergency responders can receive critical fire detection data in near real time, improving reaction times and resource allocation.
The integration with Earth-2 expands the potential applications of this technology in climate risk management.
Potential applications for climate resilience
The integration of OroraTech’s thermal data with NVIDIA Earth-2 is expected to enhance climate resilience efforts by providing accurate, high-resolution intelligence.
Scientists and researchers can use this data to refine their models for predicting extreme weather events and natural disasters.
Developers working on risk assessment tools and emergency response systems can incorporate OroraTech’s satellite insights into their applications, improving preparedness and response strategies.
