CheckFire unveils PFAS-free wet chemical extinguishers for UK commercial kitchens
Fire safety supplier CheckFire has expanded its sustainable product line with two new PFAS-free fire extinguishers.
The CommanderEDGE 3ltr and Commander 6ltr wet chemical extinguishers are designed for use in commercial kitchens, catering facilities, and canteens, specifically addressing Class F fire risks from cooking oils and fats.
Both units meet the BS EN3 standard, as evidenced by their new Kitemark certification.
They also include a redesigned bell-bottom hose, which replaces the previous lance model for improved control and coverage during fire suppression.
Fire ratings and eco-friendly credentials
These extinguishers feature high-performance fire ratings to effectively tackle Class F fires in various environments.
The CommanderEDGE 3ltr model offers an 8A 75F fire rating in a compact form, while the Commander 6ltr unit provides the same 75F rating for Class F fires alongside a higher 13A rating for Class A fires.
Both extinguishers utilise fluorine-free agents, aligning with industry demand for sustainable and eco-friendly fire safety solutions.
They form part of CheckFire‘s The Green Range, recognisable by its distinctive green crosshair logo.
Commitment to phasing out PFAS products
CheckFire continues its shift towards fluorine-free fire extinguishers as products containing PFAS compounds are phased out.
The new extinguishers demonstrate the company’s dedication to maintaining safety and performance standards while responding to environmental concerns.
These products complement CheckFire’s existing PFAS-free offerings, such as the CommanderEDGE enviroFoam range for Class B fires.
This launch reinforces CheckFire’s approach to providing sustainable fire safety solutions that comply with rigorous industry testing and certification requirements.
