New UK appointment supports fire protection development

Promat has announced the appointment of a new product manager to support its passive fire protection activities in the United Kingdom.

According to Promat, Margherita Mullis will oversee product development and technical alignment to help ensure fire protection requirements in construction are met.

Mullis joins the company from Siniat, a fellow member of the Etex group specialising in drywall systems.

Promat stated that her work will focus on aligning product offerings with fire safety standards and the needs of the construction supply chain.

The company added that Mullis will work across technical, commercial and specification teams to help bring new products to market.

Mullis brings five years’ experience within Etex group

Promat reported that Mullis has worked within the Etex group for five years, including within its technical and R&D teams.

The company said she is qualified to IFE Level 3 in Passive Fire Protection.

Promat explained that her knowledge of fire safety requirements, testing and compliance will support customers across multiple construction sectors.

She is expected to support the specification process and ensure products continue to meet current standards.

The manufacturer noted that she will work directly with commercial and specification leads to support Promat’s growth in the UK market.

Focus on compliance and testing in specification

Promat said Mullis’ appointment comes at a time when construction firms are under pressure to demonstrate compliance through product testing and data.

Mullis said: “I am delighted to be working with the Promat team, which is led with a genuine passion for achieving the very highest standards in life critical safety.
“Passive fire protection is such an important part of the built environment, and this is an incredibly important time for the industry as it demonstrates its commitment to standards in both testing and competency, but also in meeting the requirements of new legislation.
“The need for testing and data is very much starting to drive product demand in the sector as it is essential to demonstrate compliance.
“I look forward to working with the wider team to support architects, contractors and developers in the accurate specification of passive fire protection – and ensuring they can access the products and data they need.”

Etex collaboration supports product development

Promat stated that the move reflects the collaborative relationship between Etex companies in addressing passive fire protection.

It said Mullis’ experience at Siniat gives her a broader perspective on wall, partition and structural fire safety.

According to the company, combining this expertise with Promat’s product base is expected to improve alignment with specification frameworks.

It added that internal collaboration within the group will support testing standards and ensure product compatibility across Etex solutions.

Supporting industry-wide standards and product demand

Promat reported that its recent activities are part of a wider strategy to support changing building safety requirements in the UK.

The company noted that new legislation has made specification practices more demanding for architects, contractors and developers.

It said Mullis will support fire safety professionals in meeting compliance requirements through access to testing data and verified products.

Promat added that demand for passive fire protection solutions continues to grow as construction firms address competency, performance and regulatory obligations.
