Ranger expands with Secureshield acquisition

Ranger Fire and Security has acquired Secureshield, a fire, security, and critical services firm based in Motherwell and Newcastle.

This acquisition extends Ranger’s reach across Scotland and the North-East of England, reinforcing its position in the UK fire and security industry.

Ranger has expressed intentions for further acquisitions, aiming to establish itself as the primary provider of fire and security solutions across the UK and Ireland.

Secureshield, with over 70 employees, provides maintenance and installation services for fire, security, and emergency systems.

Its clients span both public and private sectors, including organisations like the MoD and NHS.

The acquisition enables Ranger to leverage Secureshield’s expertise and resources to support its national service delivery.

Secureshield’s services and expertise

Secureshield is recognised for its services in emergency lighting, CCTV, access control, and Technology Enabled Care Services (TECS), including social alarms and call systems.

The company has built a reputation for high-quality service and has a diverse client base across the UK.

Secureshield’s offerings align with Ranger’s objective of delivering a one-stop solution for fire and security.

John Hunter, Managing Director of Secureshield, will join Ranger as Regional Chair while continuing his current role, alongside other key members of Secureshield’s leadership.

Hunter noted: “There was a huge amount of interest in Secureshield, but with a shared focus on growth and delivering the highest quality service for our customers and clients, Ranger was absolutely the right partner for Secureshield’s future.”

Leadership to drive expansion and growth

Secureshield’s leadership team, including Hunter, Billy Hunter (Sales), Lorna Forsyth (Finance), and Rory Walker (Operations), will remain with the company, facilitating Ranger’s expansion strategy.

This team will play a central role in executing Ranger’s growth plans, particularly through acquisitions and partnerships in the region.

Their combined expertise is expected to drive growth across the Ranger Group and enhance its service portfolio.

Mark Bridges, CEO of Ranger Fire and Security, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating: “Secureshield is a highly respected key player in the fire, security and maintenance space.

“Their joining of the Ranger Group will expand our geographic reach and industry expertise.”

Strengthened by previous acquisitions and investments

The acquisition of Secureshield adds to Ranger Fire and Security’s recent growth efforts, following its acquisition of several firms, including AFIL, Ignis Fire Protection Ltd, Syncro Group Ltd, IPH Fire Solutions Ltd, Fire Door Specialists Ltd, and KSS Fire Suppression.

These acquisitions, alongside financial support from Hyperion Equity Partners and ThinCats, have enabled Ranger to establish a broader market presence across the UK.

Since its founding earlier this year, Ranger has pursued a strategy of combining regional and national capabilities, aiming to provide an integrated customer experience in fire safety and security.
