Ranger Fire and Security expands passive fire safety services through Fire Door Specialists acquisition

Ranger Fire and Security has announced the acquisition of Nottinghamshire-based Fire Door Specialists Ltd (FDS), expanding its services into the passive fire safety sector.

As reported by Ranger Fire & Security, this marks the company’s first venture into passive fire safety, enhancing its current portfolio which had focused on active fire safety.

FDS, which provides fire door compliance services nationwide, offers building inspections, fire door maintenance, and installation.

With over 150 years of collective experience, the firm has a strong reputation and longstanding clients, including the NHS and Ministry of Defence.

Led by Operations Director Ian Maciejewski, the company has grown significantly, servicing a wide range of sectors such as student accommodation, schools, factories, and offices.

Ian will join Ranger’s senior leadership team as part of this acquisition.

Fire Door Specialists to enhance Ranger’s service offering

The acquisition allows Ranger to offer a comprehensive solution for fire safety and security services under one umbrella.

FDS will leverage Ranger’s scale, technology, and expertise to improve its customer offerings.

Ranger’s evaluation process considered several potential businesses, ultimately selecting FDS for its skilled workforce, service quality, and consistent growth in fire door inspections and maintenance.

Mark Bridges, CEO of Ranger Fire and Security, stated: “Fire Door Specialists is a well-known, respected business in the passive fire space that will add a new and key service to the Ranger Group.

This acquisition marks another milestone for Ranger in our journey to provide the highest quality, complete service offering and opens up significant cross-selling opportunities.”

Strategic benefits for both companies

Although Ranger’s long-term focus remains on active fire safety, the acquisition of FDS is part of the company’s strategy to deliver a more complete service to clients.

The addition of passive fire services is expected to enhance Ranger’s overall customer experience and service offering, particularly with its expanding operations across the UK and Ireland.

The acquisition follows several previous purchases by Ranger, including AFIL, Ignis Fire Protection Ltd, Syncro Group Ltd, and IPH Fire Solutions Ltd.

These acquisitions have collectively strengthened Ranger’s position in areas such as fire detection, suppression, and security services.

Leadership perspectives on growth and collaboration

Ian Maciejewski, Operations Director at Fire Door Specialists, commented on the acquisition: “Our decision to partner with Ranger was an easy one – it’s a company I have admired since its launch and presents huge opportunities for our business.

“Ranger is the best partner for us going forward given our shared focus on providing a high-quality service for customers.”

Maciejewski will play a pivotal role in ensuring the continued growth of FDS within the Ranger Group.

His leadership is expected to drive collaboration, enhance service delivery, and explore new growth opportunities for both companies.
