Ranger Fire and Security announces first acquisition of 2025

Ranger Fire and Security has acquired McGoff & Vickers Fire & Security Systems (MGV), marking its first acquisition of 2025.

MGV, based in the North-West, has operated since 1925 and provides fire and security services to both public and private sector clients, including hospitals, councils, and educational institutions.

The company maintains a 95% recurring revenue stream through long-term maintenance contracts, aligning with Ranger’s business model.

MGV will continue to operate under its existing name and work closely with Syncro Fire and Security, another Ranger Group business, to enhance service offerings and expand customer reach in the North-West.

MGV’s history and expertise in fire and security services

Founded nearly a century ago, MGV has a long-standing reputation for delivering fire protection solutions.

The company holds NACOSS Gold Contractor status from the National Security Inspectorate, a certification it has maintained since the 1970s, demonstrating compliance with the highest technical standards.

MGV offers a range of services, including fire detection and suppression, CCTV, intruder alarms, electrical installations, and data cabling networks.

Its expertise in security complements Ranger’s fire alarm services, enhancing the group’s multidiscipline capability.

Collaboration with Syncro Fire and Security

Following the acquisition, MGV will collaborate with Syncro Fire and Security to improve operational efficiency and expand its service range.

Gerry Bates, Managing Director of Syncro, said: “We know McGoff & Vickers really well by reputation, and they have an excellent reputation gained with their many long-standing customers, providing the North-West with the high-quality fire and security needs it requires.”

He added: “Working closely with Syncro under the Ranger umbrella, we will work together as a team to enable McGoff & Vickers and Syncro to delight our current customer base and to reach a wider range of customers.

“I’m looking forward to working with the MGV team to enhance our offering to customers across the North-West.”

Ranger Fire and Security’s growth strategy

Ranger Fire and Security has been expanding since its launch in early 2024, backed by private investment firm Hyperion Equity Partners.

The company has acquired multiple businesses, including AFIL, Ignis Fire Protection Ltd, Syncro Group Ltd, IPH Fire Solutions Ltd, Fire Door Specialists Ltd, KSS Fire Suppression, and Secureshield Ltd.

These acquisitions have strengthened Ranger’s capabilities in fire detection, alarm systems, extinguisher maintenance, and passive fire protection.

Ian Teader, Group Managing Director of Ranger Fire and Security, said: “MGV is well known to me and its business model aligns closely with what we are looking to achieve at Ranger.

“To have a business join with such a strong reputation and history is testament to Ranger’s pull in the market.”

Funding for the acquisition was provided by ThinCats.
