Claire’s Place Foundation launches LA Fire Emergency Fund
Claire’s Place Foundation has launched the LA Fire Emergency Fund to support the cystic fibrosis (CF) community in Greater Los Angeles impacted by ongoing wildfires, as reported by the Foundation.
The fund provides one-time grants for air purifiers, temporary lodging, and other essential supplies to help protect individuals with CF, whose condition makes them especially vulnerable to wildfire smoke.
To date, over 30 grants have been distributed, with more applications being processed.
Hollywood supports wildfire relief efforts
Oscar nominee Sebastian Stan was the first to donate to the fund.
He was joined by actress Haley Lu Richardson and other members of the Hollywood community, demonstrating the collective commitment to safeguarding vulnerable individuals during this crisis.
Melissa Yeager, Executive Director of Claire’s Place Foundation, explained the impact: “Wildfires are devastating for everyone, but for individuals with CF, the stakes are even higher.”
Cystic Fibrosis Research Institute contributes to the fund
The Cystic Fibrosis Research Institute (CFRI) has also made a significant donation to the LA Fire Emergency Fund.
This collaboration reflects the importance of uniting CF-focused organisations to address the urgent needs of families during environmental crises.
Funds are distributed quickly to ensure immediate assistance to those in need.
Grant eligibility and application process
The fund offers financial support for air purifiers, temporary lodging, food, and other essentials.
To be eligible, patients or their dependents must have a confirmed CF diagnosis and reside in Los Angeles County or other wildfire-affected areas.
Referrals must be submitted by a hospital professional, and applications are processed promptly to deliver rapid assistance.
