New badge aims to improve credibility for facilities management professionals

As reported by SFG20, the industry standard for building maintenance, a new digital badge has been launched to enhance credibility and transparency for professionals in the facilities management (FM) sector.

The ‘SFG20 Member-Exclusive Digital Badge’ is designed to signify that the holder adheres to the highest standards of building maintenance, working in line with current legislation and regulations.

Supporting compliance with building safety regulations

The introduction of this badge follows updates to the Building Safety Act 2022 and the increasing importance of the ‘Golden Thread‘ in building maintenance.

The digital badge will serve as tangible evidence of a company’s efforts to comply with industry-recognised SFG20 standards, fostering transparency and accountability in the sector.

FM professionals holding the badge will be recognised for their ability to manage compliance and safety efficiently, particularly in addressing backlogs and prioritising resources.

Benefits for tender evaluations

One key use of the digital badge is in tender evaluations, where companies can demonstrate their alignment with industry standards.

This will provide indisputable proof of membership, confirming a commitment to best practices in building maintenance.

SFG20 Managing Director Kirsty Cogan said: “The digital badges guarantee that our clients, and all stakeholders they interact with, have immediate access to clear information regarding the validity of their compliance with SFG20 standards.”

QR code technology for easy verification

To ensure validity, badge holders will be given a digital QR code that can be embedded directly onto their website.

This will enable third parties to verify their compliance with SFG20 standards easily.

A full list of active SFG20 members is available online, allowing users to confirm a company’s credentials quickly.

Kirsty Cogan added: “This digital symbol will enable a culture of continuous improvement and adherence to best practices within the industry.”
