New leadership for Siemens fire and comfort systems in UK South
Siemens Building UK has announced the appointment of Mark Gutteridge as Area Sales Manager – South for its Buildings Product Sales and Business Development division.
According to the company, Gutteridge will oversee the Fire and Comfort divisions within the Siemens Buildings portfolio across southern England.
The company said Gutteridge has worked at Siemens for over a decade, most recently as Solutions Partner Manager in the digital industries business covering the UK and Ireland.
Siemens stated that his prior roles involved experience in automation and control, including variable speed drives, which it said provided crossover knowledge applicable to building management.
Gutteridge will now lead business development and sales efforts for Siemens’ building technologies portfolio in the southern UK.
Background in digital industries and automation
According to Siemens, Gutteridge has worked across a number of business areas within the company during his 10-year tenure.
His most recent role focused on managing partnerships in the digital industries division, with responsibility across both the UK and Ireland.
The company said this involved extensive engagement with control systems and variable speed drive technologies, supporting industrial clients with automated solutions.
Siemens stated that this experience provided foundational knowledge relevant to building control systems, which he will now apply to his new responsibilities.
The firm noted that the fire and comfort portfolio includes systems aimed at creating safer and more energy-efficient environments in commercial buildings.
Focus on buildings portfolio and regional development
Siemens confirmed that Gutteridge will now be responsible for developing product sales and managing accounts within the Buildings segment in southern England.
The company said this includes responsibility for both fire safety systems and comfort solutions.
According to the firm, the comfort systems involve energy-efficient climate and building management technologies, while the fire division includes detection and protection systems.
Siemens said this dual focus reflects the company’s integrated approach to building systems.
It added that Gutteridge will play a key role in supporting both technical delivery and commercial strategy for the region.
Gutteridge comments on the new role
Gutteridge said: “I’m very much relishing the new challenge.”
He added: “While I have some experience in areas which crossover with building management from my automation and control background – variable speed drives for example – it is essentially a new area for me.”
He continued: “I understand the Siemens solutions-orientated philosophy very well from my previous roles and I look forward to applying that same commitment to finding optimal solutions in providing safer, more comfortable and more energy efficient environments for buildings.”
Siemens Buildings UK and Ireland structure
The Buildings division within Siemens UK and Ireland includes several areas of operation focused on fire safety, building control, energy management and digital services.
The company said the Buildings Product Sales and Business Development team is tasked with aligning customer needs with Siemens’ product offerings.
It added that this includes both direct sales and channel management, particularly in regional roles such as the one held by Gutteridge.
According to Siemens, the appointment reflects an ongoing effort to align sales and business development functions with specialised domain knowledge and regional delivery.
The firm said this move supports the company’s wider goals of optimising building performance and operational resilience.
