SOCOTEC opens Dublin office after Irish acquisition

SOCOTEC has opened a new office in Dublin as part of its expansion across Ireland.

The company said the move follows its acquisition of infrastructure firm Lloyds Datum Group earlier this year.

The Dublin office builds on SOCOTEC’s existing engineering facility in Letterkenny, which has been providing specialised fire engineering services to customers across Ireland and the UK.

SOCOTEC said the Dublin location is intended to support its growing Irish client base and expand service offerings across multiple sectors.

The company said its focus includes engineering services such as structural engineering and fire engineering.

Leadership and service scope for the Dublin office

Wayne Somanna, Associate Director for Fire Engineering, will lead the Dublin office.

Somanna said: “Our business unit is focusing on strategic, specific key targets rather than mass expansion and while this Dublin office is primarily for engineering use, it’s a good indication of what SOCOTEC plans to do when it comes to further expansion into the country.

“We’re not only focusing on engineering but offering holistic technical consultancy services.”

SOCOTEC said its Irish Fire Engineering team provides Fire Safety Engineering Services, Access and Use Consultancy, Ancillary Certification, Fire Safety Audits and Fire Risk Assessment Services.

The company said it supports clients from project inception through completion, including developing Fire Safety Strategies, Fire Safety Certificates and Disability Access Certificates, alongside on-site BC(A)R inspections and certification services.

Matthew Marriott, CEO of SOCOTEC UK and Ireland, said: “Our new Dublin office is the next logical step for SOCOTEC, following our acquisition of Lloyds Datum Group, and when combined with our engineering expertise and environmental services, positions us to offer clients a complete range of technical consultancy solutions.”

SOCOTEC said it has an established client base in Ireland across multiple sectors and has supported SOCOTEC’s UK operations.
