Teledyne partners with IDS to manufacture gas detection sensors in KSA

Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection (Teledyne GFD) has confirmed the establishment of a 699 m² manufacturing site in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

According to Teledyne GFD, the new site was created in partnership with Industrial Detection Solutions (IDS) to support local production of its gas detection technologies.

The facility will manufacture sensors for detecting toxic and combustible gases used at oil, gas, petrochemical and LNG facilities across the Middle East.

New facility to support local production and delivery

Teledyne GFD said the facility will produce its DM-700 toxic gas sensor and its FP-700 and IR-700 combustible gas sensors.

The company explained that relocating manufacturing to Saudi Arabia will improve supply chains by reducing delivery times and increasing regional accessibility.

The project also supports Saudi Arabia’s In-Kingdom Total Value Add (IKTVA) programme, which aims to localise manufacturing and develop regional supplier capacity within the energy sector.

Partnership aims to align with Saudi Arabia’s IKTVA strategy

The IKTVA programme is a national policy designed to increase industrial participation within Saudi Arabia’s oil and gas supply chain.

Teledyne GFD stated that its partnership with IDS helps meet IKTVA objectives by enabling local manufacturing of safety-critical devices.

The company added that this localisation strategy is intended to strengthen both economic resilience and industrial collaboration in the Kingdom.

Products made in Dammam will serve regional energy sector

According to Teledyne GFD, the DM-700 sensor uses electrochemical technology to detect oxygen and toxic gases and features a smart, plug-in cell that identifies gas type and range automatically.

The FP-700 sensor monitors combustible gases using catalytic bead technology.

The IR-700 sensor detects combustible hydrocarbons using non-dispersive infrared optical sensor technology.

Teledyne GFD said all sensors are designed to operate reliably in challenging industrial conditions.

New partnership will reduce delivery times for regional customers

Thomas Moeller, Vice President Sales & Marketing at Teledyne GFD, said the company aims to improve delivery speed and supply chain performance by manufacturing closer to end users.

Moeller said: “Our new partnership with Industrial Detection Solutions ensures that manufacturing is closer to both customers and suppliers, enabling even faster delivery of class-leading gas detection products in support of more efficient supply chains.”

Moeller added: “The proven solutions manufactured in KSA will better serve a vast regional industry that recognises the importance of a robust and prevalent safety culture.”

Moeller continued: “We are proud to be part of KSA’s remarkable ongoing journey of economic and industrial growth, and we look forward to a successful future together.”

Teledyne opens Saudi Arabia gas detection facility with IDS: Summary

Teledyne GFD has announced a partnership with IDS to open a gas detection sensor facility in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The facility covers 699 m² and will produce DM-700, FP-700 and IR-700 gas sensors.

The company said this move supports faster product delivery across the Middle East.

It aligns with Saudi Arabia’s IKTVA programme, which aims to grow local industrial capacity.

Teledyne GFD said manufacturing in KSA will strengthen regional supply chains.

The company stated that its sensors use electrochemical, catalytic bead and infrared technology.

These sensors are designed to detect toxic and combustible gases in oil, gas and petrochemical settings.

Teledyne GFD said the facility will support regional safety needs.

A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for 19 June 2025.
