Provincial authorities to implement fire response directives

Vietnam.vn has reported that the government of Vietnam has directed coordinated action across multiple departments to address the aftermath of a forest fire in Hoang Khai Commune, Yen Son District, Tuyen Quang Province.

The guidance follows Official Dispatch No. 25/CD-TTg issued by the Prime Minister on 22 March 2025.

Authorities are instructed to enhance forest fire prevention efforts and deploy recovery strategies.

The Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee assigned responsibilities to relevant departments, including the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the Provincial Military Command, Provincial Police, and district-level authorities.

These departments are required to enforce the Prime Minister’s directive and follow additional instructions from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, including documents No. 285/BNNMT-LNKL and No. 331/BNNMT-LNKL.

Local governments to update fire prevention plans and enforce logging controls

People’s Committees at district and city levels are tasked with reviewing and improving existing forest protection and fire prevention committees.

They are also instructed to deploy local strike forces, enhance planning, and tailor fire prevention strategies to local conditions.

Authorities are to strengthen education campaigns and suspend logging and burning during dry weather.

Personnel are expected to maintain 24/7 readiness in high-risk areas and be able to respond immediately under the “four on-site” approach.

Efforts include monitoring public entry into forested areas and addressing illegal activities such as unauthorised logging and forest product transport.

Restoration and enforcement measures initiated in affected areas

According to Vietnam.vn, Yen Son and Son Duong district authorities are responsible for restoring areas affected by fire and preventing illegal land use.

They are required to identify fire causes and impose penalties where applicable.

Committees must visit and support families of individuals injured or killed during firefighting operations.

The Department of Agriculture and Environment is to oversee these tasks and coordinate reporting, warnings, and resource planning for fire prevention.

It will also collaborate with the Department of Finance and Department of the Interior on support schemes for personnel who die during fire suppression activities, based on Circular No. 25/2019/TT-BNNPTNT.

Military, police and media to support forest protection response

The Provincial Military Command and Provincial Police are directed to coordinate with forest authorities and local units to strengthen prevention and suppression capabilities.

They are expected to develop response plans, allocate equipment, and enforce regulations on forest management and illegal exploitation.

Forest management boards and forestry companies are increasing patrols and early warning systems.

Media coordination is also part of the directive.

Tuyen Quang Newspaper and provincial broadcasting agencies are to support awareness campaigns in partnership with the Department of Agriculture and Environment and local governments.

The Red Cross Society has called on businesses, individuals, and community organisations to contribute resources to aid families affected by firefighting incidents.
