Warringtonfire to promote fire door safety at FIREX 2024

As reported by Warringtonfire, the company will participate as the Official Fire Door Partner at FIREX, an annual fire safety event scheduled for 2-4 December at ExCeL London, part of Anticipate London.

Warringtonfire, a division of Element Materials Technology, will use this platform to advocate for rigorous standards in the specification and installation of fire doorsets.

Attendees can visit Warringtonfire’s stand at location FI1840, where the team will showcase their expertise in fire door testing and certification, offering industry insight into the complex requirements of fire doors.

This year, the company aims to reinforce the importance of detailed attention in handling fire doorsets, given their critical role in fire and smoke control.

Presentation on fire resisting and smoke control doorsets

Peter Barker, Technical Policy Manager at Element Materials Technology, will address the audience on 3 December, with a presentation titled “Importance of Fire Resisting and Smoke Control Doorsets and EN Classification.”

Scheduled from 3:30 pm to 4:00 pm, Barker’s session will explore key standards for fire doors, including the European EN 13501-2 classification and British Standards BS 476: Part 22 and BS 476: Part 31.1.

Barker stated: “Fire resisting and smoke control doorsets have an important life safety role to play within buildings, by restricting the spread of fire and smoke through the building and safeguarding the means of escape.”

He explained that effective specification of doorsets can be challenging due to fragmented supporting evidence, making compliance with regulations complex.

He added that understanding the EN classification is increasingly crucial, as it will be the standard for fire performance in England from 2 September 2029.

Warringtonfire to host Tech Talks and showcase Birchwood Park facility

Alongside its main presentation, Warringtonfire will also conduct a series of “Tech Talks” on their stand, discussing regulatory changes, third-party certification, and fire testing for construction products.

The initiative aims to offer visitors practical insights and guidance on navigating the regulatory environment for fire safety in the construction industry.

Additionally, the stand will feature a dedicated area spotlighting Warringtonfire’s new 104,000 sq ft facility at Birchwood Park.

Visitors can view a video tour of the fire resistance testing laboratory, which is set to open on 2 January 2025.

This space will feature interactive displays, providing a detailed overview of the facility’s capabilities and future benefits to the industry.

“Their team’s expertise and commitment to fire safety are invaluable to the success of FIREX at Anticipate London.”

Warringtonfire highlights importance of detail in fire door installation

As the Official Fire Door Partner, Warringtonfire aims to demystify fire doorsets for attendees by addressing the complexities of testing, manufacture, installation, and maintenance.

Barker remarked: “Our aim is to demystify these building products and give clarity on how to provide added assurance on the product’s performance from testing through to manufacture, installation and ongoing maintenance.” He emphasised the necessity of thorough attention when handling fire doors to ensure safety performance aligns with test standards.
