Foundation’s symposium set to discuss suppression, detection and signalling

The Fire Protection Research Foundation, also known as the FPRF, has announced they will be hosting their 26th annual Suppression, Detection and Signaling Research and Applications Symposium from September 12-14, 2023.

The event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Chicago-Northbrook in Northbrook, IL. For more details on this, visit the official announcement.

Pioneering the symposium since 1997

Since its inception in 1997, the annual SUPDET conference has been a leading platform for experts in fire protection engineering.

Attendees range from designers and manufacturers to installers, bringing them all together to discuss the latest in research and development.

This year’s symposium promises 30 insightful presentations, with topics touching on energy storage systems, lithium-ion batteries, emerging technologies like AI, and much more.

Key topics to be addressed at the symposium

Among the highlighted discussions are:

  • The impact of Modern Vehicle Hazards in Parking Garages & Vehicle Carriers by Kevin Carr of NFPA and Victoria Hutchison of FPRF.
  • Jerry Back from Jensen Hughes will delve into the Final Validation Testing of the Lading Fluorine-Free Foams for Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Applications.
  • Discussions on Mitigation of Runaway and Propagation in Lithium-ion Battery Packs will be led by J.G. Quintiere from Q dot LLC.
  • Other significant sessions will focus on Artificial Intelligence, Smoke Detector Spacing on High Ceilings, and a panel discussion about Evaluating Data & Voice Signals in Pathway Survivable Cables for Life Safety Systems.

The Fire Protection Research Foundation is the research affiliate of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
