Firefighter shot during medical emergency in California

A firefighter and paramedic were injured in a drive by shooting whist responding to a medical emergency in California on Saturday.

Emergency response teams were called to the area of Auto Center Drive and Sycamore Drive in Antioch at around 9 p.m.

The firefighter, who works with Contra Costa County fire department, was shot in the foot, and a paramedic was shot in the leg officials have said. Both are now believed to in a stable condition in a local hospital.

Joe Ottolini, fire prevention captain with Con Fire, told local news outlet The Chronicle: “”While units were on scene — fire was on scene with EMS — a drive-by shooting occurred.”

There have been few comments made on the shooting, however, Antioch Police Department is now investigating the incident.
