Intersec 2024 marks 25 years of innovation in security technology

Event highlights the growing importance of security and fire safety technology in the MENA region

Today marked the inauguration of Intersec 2024, the foremost global trade fair in safety, security, and fire protection. His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Ports and Border Security Council, officially opened the event. Celebrating its silver jubilee, Intersec 2024 is taking place until 18 January at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), themed ‘Innovating security tech for a quarter century’.

Record-breaking participation signals robust growth in the industry

This year’s Intersec, held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, anticipates its largest edition in its 25-year history. The event, spanning 13 halls, welcomes 1,050 exhibitors from over 60 nations, marking a 20% increase from 2023. This significant growth underscores Dubai’s role as a crucial networking hub for industry leaders and a showcase for the latest technology.

Exhibition tours and global participation reflect industry’s dynamism

During the prestigious opening tour, His Highness visited several exhibition stands, including Microlink, SIRA, Axis Communications, Motorola, Genetec, Corodex, NAFFCO, and the German Pavilion. Pedro Simoes, VS&A CVP, International Sales, Motorola Solutions, remarked on the event’s importance: “It is great to return to Intersec this year, to showcase our ecosystem of fixed video, analytics and access control technologies that protect people, property and places.

“We are displaying cutting edge solutions from the Avigilon security suite as well as new Pelco open-platform security camera and we were delighted to welcome His Highness Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoumto our booth to open the show.”

Grant Tuchten, Portfolio Director at Intersec organiser Messe Frankfurt Middle East, highlighted the event’s significance: “For 25 years, Intersec has been the region’s premier networking hub for fire, safety, and security experts.

“This year’s largest edition signifies our growth, expanding by 20% from 2023.

“Intersec 2024 is poised to shine a spotlight on innovation and digital security, uniting professionals worldwide to tackle the ever-evolving needs of our industry.

“We are also proud to showcase our strong affiliations with key UAE government entities, emphasising the UAE Government’s commitment to these industries.”

Diverse conference programmes address key industry challenges

The Intersec 2024 conference programmes commenced with the exclusive Security Leaders’ Summit (ISLS), focusing on sustainable security and combatting environmental crimes.

The Cyber Security Conference, hosted by the UAE Cybersecurity Council, opened with a keynote speech on national security and cybersecurity intelligence.

The Safety & Health Conference and the Fire & Rescue Conference also featured updates and discussions on industry-relevant topics, including occupational health and safety governance, fire prevention data analytics, and safety in energy storage.

Additionally, Intersec 2024 showcased live demonstrations by forced-entry specialists, including Frontier Pitts, A1 Fencing, ABUS, and NAFFCO, in partnership with the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB).

The in{:cyber} pavilion brought together global cybersecurity vendors such as Amstergi, Seagate, and Zycoo, highlighting the latest innovations in digital defence.

Intersec 2024 encompasses five broad product sections: Commercial & Perimeter Security, Homeland Security & Policing, Fire & Rescue, Safety & Health, and Cyber Security. These sections offer tailored solutions for different industry segments, reflecting the diverse and evolving nature of the security and safety sectors.
