The thoughts of the whole IFSJ / FSJA team are with the family, friends and colleagues of Chief Fire Officer Wayne Brown today as he is laid to rest.

Wayne is quite rightly being honoured with a full brigade funeral by his colleagues from London Fire Brigade and West Midlands Fire Service.

The service takes place at Southwark Cathedral and commences at 12 noon.

IFSJ / FSJA is being represented by Managing Editor Duncan J White who worked with Wayne on a number of equality and diversity projects during his tenure as founder and chair of the National Disabled Fire Association (NDFA).

Rest in Peace Sir, you are missed.

Wayne started his career as a firefighter in East London and spent 27 years in London Fire Brigade rising to the role of Assistant Commissioner. He has led various functions including Protection, Operation’s (South East Area), Incident Management and Operational Policy and Assurance.

Wayne joined West Midlands Fire Service, as Deputy Chief Fire Officer, from London Fire Brigade in November 2019 and was Programme Executive with responsibility for Community Risk Reduction before taking up the role of Chief Fire Officer in January 2023.
