Rapid response to fire system failure

Crowborough Beacon Golf Club, a renowned establishment in the South East, recently faced an urgent need for a new fire alarm system following the unexpected failure of their previous one.

The club’s lack of adequate fire alarm coverage necessitated a swift and efficient solution.

In response, Hyfire’s Taurus wireless fire devices were installed, comprising 46 devices along with a fire panel, translators, expanders, and base sounders.

This choice was particularly advantageous due to its seamless integration and minimal disturbance to the club’s aesthetics and structure.

Critical project execution

John Fletcher, Fire Safety Surveyor at Fire Action, highlighted the project’s urgency: “When we were approached by the club regarding their fire alarm system failure, we knew that time was of the essence.

“Normally these things can be planned over time, and the installation can be conducted with the existing system still in operation, but we didn’t have that luxury here.

“Using a wireless system was crucial due to the historic nature and decor of the building, as well as the need to get the new system live as rapidly as possible.”

Hyfire’s technological edge

Hyfire offers a wide range of commercial standard wireless fire devices, from optical multi-criteria and heat detectors to EN54-23 Approved VAD’s, all fully certified to EN54 and compliant with BS5839 Part 1.

Their products are known for their high performance and quality, and they provide flexible solutions for specifiers and installers, including hybrid systems combining wired and wireless products.

Gemma Hand, Regional Sales Manager London Herts & Essex for Hyfire, commented on the collaboration: “Our close collaboration with Fire Action on this project underscores the adaptability and efficiency of our Taurus wireless systems.

“We are proud to have played a pivotal role in restoring the fire systems at Crowborough Beacon Golf Club, getting the members and staff back on track as rapidly as possible.”

Taurus technology: a game-changer

Developed in Trieste, Italy, Taurus features Pathfinder Technology, allowing communication over long distances with minimal equipment.

This technology has been optimised for different frequencies and environments, offering cost-effective solutions.

Gratitude from Crowborough Beacon Golf Club

Gary Bateman, Maintenance Manager at Crowborough Beacon Golf Club, expressed his gratitude: “The unwavering dedication of both Fire Action and Hyfire in ensuring our club’s safety was truly commendable.

“The swift installation and flawless operation of the new system have not only ensured our rapid return to ‘business as usual’ for our members but also reaffirmed our trust in both companies.”
