NFPA makes a strategic appointment

On 10th August 2023, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) unveiled a key change to fortify its growth approach.

They have confirmed the appointment of international business expert, Carlos Correia, as vice president of strategic initiatives.

The announcement highlighted that Correia’s responsibilities will include overseeing business diversification strategies.

These may encompass potential acquisitions, innovation, and expanding businesses in related sectors.

About Carlos Correia

Correia is no stranger to the international business scene having previously held the position of vice president and general manager of Assets and Sustainability Performance at Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

There, he supervised the company’s digital and consulting operations, centring on energy transition, healthy buildings, and health and safety.

His professional journey has seen him lead various businesses and units, some of which achieved revenues of over $250 million.

Additionally, with work stints in Germany, Japan, and the USA, Carlos’s international exposure is vast.

Educationally, he holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Escola Superior Náutica Infante D. Henrique in Portugal.

He also earned an MBA from UBI Business School in Belgium.

Carlos’s proficiency in English, Portuguese, French, and Spanish, coupled with his global work history, makes him a fitting candidate for his new position at NFPA.

NFPA President and CEO Jim Pauley remarked: “Carlos brings a diverse international business background and a proven ability to guide prosperous businesses and growth strategies.”

He continued: “His unique set of skills will undoubtedly aid NFPA in broadening its reach, advancing our crucial fire, life, and electrical safety mission.”

Echoing this sentiment, Pauley also observed: “Emerging safety risks demand inventive solutions.

“With Carlos at the helm of our strategic endeavours, we’re in a stronger position globally to confront ongoing and new fire safety concerns.”
